NFA

NFA stands for National Firearms Act and was put into effect in 1934 by congress to discourage or eliminate transactions in these firearms. The $200 tax has not changed since 1934. NFA firearms include but are not limited to, silencers, short barreled rifles, short barrel shotguns, machine guns, any other weapons (AOW) and destructive devices. While consumers can buy new short barreled rifles, shotguns and silencers you cannot buy a brand new machine gun.  To legally own a machine gun it must have been registered prior to May 19, 1986. More information on the NFA can be found at https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/national-firearms-act.

How it works

  1. Meet with our specialists to help you find the right product for your needs.
  2. All NFA items must be paid for in full before any submissions can take place.
  3. Take fingerprings & passport photo. We have a Silencer Shop digital fingerprint kiosk in store and will have more digital fingerprint options in the future.
  4. Decide how you will take ownership. You can own your NFA items in either a trust, corporation or as an individual. Depending upon how you will using your new weapons will help guide you on which way is best for you.
  5. Sign forms electronically.
  6. Prepare and submit via EForms. You will need to create a Silencershop and ATF Eforms account to complete the submission. During this process the ATF will provide you with a username and PIN number to use during the certification process.
  7. Once the form 4 has been submitted and certified all you have left to do is wait for the approval to come from the ATF.
  8. Take it home! Once we have your tax stamp in hand you can come pickup your NFA item. Make sure to bring your drivers license for pick up as you will need to fill out a 4473 to complete the transfer to you.
